In 2005, indie pop fashions went mainstream in Europe and North America, prompting a revival of 1960s mod and British Invasion fashions, vintage or thrift retailer clothes, and the popularization of activist fashions just like the keffiyeh. Other subcultures, including American preppies and even rappers like Kanye West, imitated indie fashions or mixed them with parts of Japanese street type, like the Harajuku and Lolita fashion popularized by Gwen Stefani.
